Victoria Montiel with her original paintings
Acrylic paintings of water, forest, and light.
Victoria Montiel is a contemporary artist working between the United States, Spain, and Uruguay. Her paintings explore atmosphere, memory, water, and landscape through layered acrylic and oil surfaces, built with dense, rhythmic brushwork that moves between abstraction and place — often evoking lakes, forests, mist, and shifting light.
Her practice is defined by texture, movement, and emotional depth rather than literal representation. Each canvas carries visible marks of the hand: broken strokes, layered color, uneven surfaces, and moments of quiet luminosity.
Montiel's work speaks to collectors drawn to serene, atmospheric painting with a strong physical presence.
Montiel paints places in transition. Water, forest, mist, and light appear in her work as emotional environments rather than fixed scenes.
Her paintings are made through accumulation: layered color, broken strokes, repeated marks, and shifting passages of blue, green, violet, cream, and pale gold. The surface never fully settles. It asks the viewer to move closer, step back, and look again.
The work belongs to a contemporary impressionist language, but it is not nostalgic. It is atmospheric, large-scale, and present: painting that turns landscape into feeling, and feeling into space.
At 48 × 60 inches, Montiel's paintings are made to be experienced physically. In a room, the works shift with distance: luminous from afar, textured and fragmented up close. They are paintings for spaces where atmosphere, scale, and presence matter.
